1957 D Off Center Strike (any value?)

    I'm curious what would cause the checkered design on the left side of the coin? Is it worth anything?

    It's not an off center strike as both the reverse and obverse would be evenly off stuck - what you might be seeing is plain old PMD - damage AFTER it left the mint.

    Definitely not what I collect, The reverse seems to have a broad struck look. It would seem to me that any PMD would have obliterated the reverse, in that area.

    That is a strange coin. No idea what caused that.
