1957 D dome shape Lincoln Wheat Cent ERROR???

    ERROR? or SELF INFLECTED? Could this happen to a coin, during minting? 213sarah

    The "dome" is hard to see in your photos but the coin appears to be damaged.

    post mint damage. you can see on the obverse there is a ring where the pressure was applied to push out the reverse.

    A lot of jewelry has coins in it, that have been domed. I have seen silver and gold coins domed & added to jewelry, usually bracelets. Definitely damaged.

    PMD isn't alway junk. Sure, it gets rid of value, but I still collect PMD coins that I find interesting. If nothing else, I have them for a reference of possible PMD's.

    No, PMD = Not an error. There are plenty of PMD coins that are still valuable.
