    I seem to run across these quite often but this is my first wheat cent like this.

    It's an "associated die break"
    by the BIE Handbook definition.
    Although some collectors just
    called them "connectors." The
    use of "connectors" probably
    came about because of a) the
    maniacal nature of the Guild's
    classification system and b)
    Jean Cohens book which
    classified breaks and cracks
    from the date to the mintmark
    as a "connect."
