I can't remember if I posted this before, or not. I don't recall receiving any data on it, if I did. So, maybe someone more knowledgable than I can tell me something about the purple line and the missing ink ? I don't know much about the paper....lol
You would think this would be worth some decent money with a star especially But it is from one of the most common series 1957 and has that bankers mark On it would only be worth between $10 and $15
Cool, thanks ! I think I have $3-$4 in it, as it was bundled with some 28's in an auction. I know it may be "noobish", but what were the "banker's marks" for ?
I would not write this off as a bankers mark. It may be a mark from the BEP. I recommend you post it over at the Collectors Universe website http://forums.collectors.com/categories.cfm?catid=23&zb=9760939 and ask the same question. There are many more experienced error collectors over there who can answer your question. It may well turn out to be a post-BEP mark but the experts over there should be able to tell you that.
The purple line may be an end of roll indicator. A red or purple diagonal line indicated the end of a roll. The red or purple line warns the operator that the roll is ending. Since the 1990 series a matted green indicator warns the operator. That may be what the purple line is. LSM
is the purple line ink, a sticker.... ? Also the missing ink could be a slight under inking of the plate prior to pressing into the paper, could be a slight bit of grease was on the plate at that point so the ink didnt stick? could be any number of other things.... not sure if any would command a premium
The purple nearly looks like what a highlighter would look like. I wondered about the end-roll marker, but I don't have much experience with notes.
