1956D misplaced mintmark

    Looking through wheats this morning and found a 56d misplaced mint mark. My first wheat error. 20180328_094736.jpg

    Mint marks were hand punched up until 1989. You will see them all over the place. Not an error.

    Can’t really tell much with those photos, but it just looks like a beat up coin.

    Thanks,looked really high to me.looked through others and mine were as high as this one.

    *on cents....

    If memory serves me (and it often doesn't), the same doesn't hold true for other denominations but I, unfortunately, forget the specifics. Do you recall, perchance?

    Up untill the mid 80s all were hand punched,that's what I read recently.

    After they were hand punched in philly,they were then sent to the other branches for distribution.

    I thought it was all denominations.

    It was,phill made all dies, working dies,hub ect.all denomanation.
