Does anyone here know what the CONECA variety number is for this mint mark? I've searched but am unable to find it anywhere.
Can you get a closeup of the date? Picture too pixelated to tell if it is an RPM. You can also use coppercoins.com and click "die variety search" in the top left of the home screen, then type in the date and mintmark of your coin and click "mintmark variety" to see pictured listings of RPMs for that year.
If it's just the RPM, the CONECA number is RPM-001. That's the only one listed in my Cherrypicker's Guide.
John, CONECA has a lot of listings for the date on their website, though the only one that shows up in the CPG. I can tell right away from position that it is not RPM-001. If the question was just regarding mintmark placement and orientation, it is within mint tolerances...the mintmarks were hand-punched into the working dies up until 1990, so you will find years with many different locations and angles...it is not really considered a die variety the way an RPM or doubled die is.
Cool. I need a better app for close-up pics. What do you guys use? Yeah just the placement and angle. I never thought to see if it were one of the high end re-punches but I don't see anything showing any re-punch or shadow using my loupe. I do like it though as it's very close and pushing against the 9 slightly. I'll have to look that one up.
