I know it's no biggie folks but I'm getting used to the new computer and just hooked up the scanner.

Here's a BU 1956 Wheat. Lots of garbage on the 2X2 as you can see. Just pulled it out of a "bag o coins" as it were.

I just refer to these as "clogged 9s". Anyone care to share why this really happened and what it's really called?

    Thanks,

    clembo

    Picture might help.

could be a filled die. Thats when the die gets clogged with debris or grease.

Your name is as good as any, it's caused by a die chip.

    Clembo:
That is a die chip, very common on those old wheaties.
    Now look for the BIE's.
A die break in Liberty between the B & the E.

    Got lots of em Treashunt.
Actually was pretty sure this was a die chip just figured I'd put it up so maybe someone else might learn from it.

My old computer was dying FAST. Couldn't use my scanner or my microscope (that I still need to load).

Wow, nice to be able to use things again!
