I'm sorry I'm new to collecting coins so I can only go by what I've read that is the reason I was asking a question.

No, Mark. We just have fun while being serious about coins.

I'm not a Lincoln collector but I'm going to ring someone who might be able to help you.

May I (respectfully) ask if you're familiar with what a double denomination is? If not, perhaps this would interest you....

As for what the anomaly actually is, I'd want to see better (clearer, in focus) photos before venturing a guess. Welcome to the forum.

And you picked a fine hobby indeed to start with. Welcome to the retired neighborhood. I retired 5 years ago early from a 38 career with Becton Dickinson ( syringes/hospital supplies). Glad you did not take my poke seriously. Welcome to the forum and have fun. We all have a bit of fun here now and then, all mostly well meant. By the way, if you have other hobbies you would like to share, skip over to the general discussion thread. We share more than coins here.

@mark1962 The first thing I would suggest to you then is to look around all the US coins, figure out what you like the most, then buy a book on them. Education in a series you like is the best thing you could possibly do in your new hobby. Now that you're retired you should have time for it and might get some enjoyment.

While you're waiting for the books to arrive, dig deep into the archives of this wonderful forum and you will find a treasure trove of information that might not always be in books.

    And of course, welcome.
