I'm thinking minor Laminations. Those are common on many wheat cents.
Looks stained or toned to me.
Yes, it has blotchy brighter spots. Like a woody but not as pretty.
But yet it does have appeal.
Looks like an old cleaning to me. Ah, the pencil erasers of the 50s. LOL
