    Hello guys,

I have this 1955 Lincoln Wheat penny with what is obviously a large die crack error on Lincoln's head but I am not sure what to classify the other chips of metal as. Are these both die chips? One piece looks like it's connected to the die crack.

    Thanks very much.

Those are cuds along retained die cracks.

Incorrect.. Cuds are found on the rim and flow into the field.

    These are known as Cuds

They're retained cuds along retained die cracks. The die cracks caused them. Take out the die cracks and there was nothing in that area to chip off.
