    Hi,

The word LIBERTY is a part of the master hub and as a result becomes a part of the master die. The master die with the entire word LIBERTY is used to make working hubs that are, in turn used to make working dies. Working dies strike the coins.

Why am I adding this detail? Only to indicate why the L is not repunched. The process doesn't work that way.

I saved the picture and looked at it carefully after making the image lighter.

This is a normal 1955 cent that was struck by a typical worn die. There is nothing unusual about the eye either.

    Thanks,
    Bill

Thank Bill for the information. Just I measured the lenght of the mouth of a normal 1938. Has .025" closed and .005" at the V. When I go home will measure the 1955. But you are right. Most look like worn die. Have a nice weekend every body.
