    Hello,
I recently found a 1955 D error coin where the D is doubled, very plain to see, the coin is in EF - AU. There are none listed in the Cherrypickers Guide. There is a 1955 D with a horizontal D, 1 only 1 st one found in 1992, but this one is vertical. Any sugestions as to how to get it certified or its value?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Sorry the pic is so bad I had to scan it, I have a CHEAP scanner them print it and take a pic of the picture. Hope it helps. Thanks for all of the help.

    Ben -

I moved your post ot the Error Forum, mor elikely to get answers or suggestions here. There are any number of things you could do - send the coin to CONECA for an attribution, submit the coin to ANACS for attribution, grading and authentication. Or just visit a coin sho and ask their opinion.

But before doing any of that - can you post a pic of the coin here ?

    Hi Ben.

According to the RPM book, there are currently 11 different 1955 D/D Lincoln cent RPM's. A nice image of the mm in question would sure help identify which one you have.

Best I can tell from your pics, I would say you have a '55 D/D RPM#3

There are several ways to confirm this. A stage "B" example would have a die chip on the T of CENT. A stage "C" example would have a die crack on Lincolns forehead and a stage "D" would have a die crack on the lower right wheat to the rim.

Pics look good enough to me - maybe not to identify the specific variety, but that's definitely an RPM. I checked the Cherrypickers Guide - that one's not in there.

I'd visit the CONECA site if I were you and see what I could find - http://conecaonline.org/

I think that you meant RPM #2. (That's what it looks like to me as well, but need sharper pics to be sure.)
