100_7807.jpg 100_7810.jpg title says it all but the cent is in proof 100_7798.jpg 100_7797.jpg to me it seems the motto (in god we trust) liberty is doubled and 1955 is somewhat doubled in proof as this cent is what could it be worth.

If it is a proof, the most likely candidate is Coneca 4-O-II, which is also paired with a DD reverse, but the photos are not sharp enough to tell even if it is a doubled die or machine doubled ( most likely % wise). If it is MDD, there would be no premium. It is not the major 55DDO Die #1 which is not a proof but a circulation strike. Sharper/closer photos are needed. Add a photo of the reverse also.

I wouldn't buy a coin as expensive as a 55 DDO without it being certified by a TPG.

There are more than one die face of the 1955/55 cent DDO Die #1, and the proof one mentioned above is in the hundreds of dollars PF63 up. But your concern is well taken, if the cent is on auction or sale. If it is a personal coin already, then identification is important so one doesn't waste money on TPG.

Agreed. If it can be authenticated in hand before it is bought, then there would be no need for a TPG. But if it is bought off of eBay or CL or something, then I would have to buy it certified.

Thanks for the larger photos. I do not see any indication it is the proof doubled die. I do not see any marker on the reverse of a DDR either, which it should have. If you do decide to move it from a 2x2 to a flip or a solid plastic holder, take photos of it ( both sides) out of the holder. The mylar is very transparent, but it does make the image a little fuzzy when magnified. And welcome to the forum!
