Guys asking 1750 I know that's really high but I like a little red. Should I drive 3 hours round trip to look at it? Think it would cac?
Well, it is graded correctly. Color does not get stated unless the coin is Unc. Now, it looks more brown than red to me.
And rather expensive at the price; only 9 of the last 50 PCGS-slabbed examples from their auction results site have exceeded it.
I'm gonna wait for a RD one. In the mean time I found something shiny that I will be Harshly punished for I know. HA auction
Well @Michael Clarke, I'm very impressed that you can afford to buy expensive damaged coins. Perhaps you should also brag to others in the ERROR COIN FORUM as they are fond of mistakes too. The bigger the better. And another suggestion. We all cannot afford to buy the best examples of a coin type but in the long run, those who purchase "drop-dead-gorgeous-original" coins - even those with very low catalog values USUALLY do very well and have just as much fun. They actually will have a coin to brag about!
I'm new here sorry about the bad etiquette. Childhood dream was to own a 1909 s vdb and 1955 DDO. I'm 50 and drive a 2003 Corolla. I inherited some money but having it all in the stock market seems foolish. The Eagles I bought just sit there and are boring. Yes my mistakes back into the coin world have been expensive. I have a small pile of ebay raw "Great Southern Coins" not worth shit. I'm trying to find my balance. A 1955 DD RB is out of the question for me, and your right I would be every bit as satisfied having any 55DD. That Columbus above? I'd rather look at that any day then an Eagle or a bigger number on a spreadsheet for about the same price. I know I won't get my money back but it will be my best coin.
I could not figure why you posted a foreign coin on this thread. Since you wished to be harshly punished - I threw the rock. You are safe buying silver eagles - probably better than a bank account right now. Hope you take my words to heart, find some things you enjoy, and then buy undamaged coins already graded. For example, if you like history, you could probably purchase several dozen 16th and 17th century European small denomination coins in excellent condition for the price you paid for the gold coin. Even a starter set of gold sovereigns from countries in the British Empire in BU. Anyway, enjoy you piece. I've got some cleaned coins in my collection because I could not afford nicer.
THANKS for correcting my post and getting the record straight. NGC has been doing this "forever." Cannot get thru to PCGS...lines busy...wonder why? I do not believe the "other" services put color on AU's.
