Just pulled this out of my wife's penny jar. Is there doubling on the inside of the loops on the 5's. There also seems to be other things like that mark between the 1 and 9. What do you think - I know it's faint but the coin is worn? Thanks Darryl http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/127_2762.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/127_27621.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/127_27622.jpg
I can't see anything unusual on the inside loops of the fives. As for the mark between the 1 and 9 that could be a die chip. Lou
I have outlined the marks I think I see - maybee I'm looking too hard http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/127_27623.jpg Thanks Lou!
Neat coin, doesn't look like doubling to me, but I could be wrong. The result of a worn die. By the D and 5, that looks pretty neat, not sure what it is exactly. Strike through? Is it outward or inward? Always the possibility too it could be post mint, but I'm not sure. Sorry about not being that big of a help. Still, a neat coin to say the least. Phoenix
I really need to get a scope for home! What a different picture when you look through a scope - and there is nothing there. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee123/USS656/55DCent1.jpg Trying too hard to see something I guess??? Thanks everyone!
