I got out yesterday to the coin shop that life long friend owns. he had put some wheat up for me as always. this is one of them. this is the finest Poor Man 55/5 I have ever seen. Its so golden + a touch of cranberry too what do you think???
Very nice! I have one in similar condition (not as doubled though), I believe Mike Diamond said it was Die Deterioration Doubling... I need a better picture of this... lol
Golden oldies Nothing quite like the 'golden oldies' Jello. Fortunately I have been lucky enough to get a few oldies with the gold hues. As for cranberry, here you go. (the picture is the best I could get and does not give the coin the justice it deserves)... jeankay
Very Very nice Jello! and also the other coins are nice also. It is very interesting how the colors can develop over time. Love to see any error or toned coin! Jim
Nice one Jello. i have two of them i have some extreme doubling on the I of liberty, and the last digit of the date, unfortunitly this is from die fatige and don't fetch that much, but there cool to have. I have a couple of 1958 like that, but I don;t think they list it as a poor mans 1958 double die. Nice coin Jello Jazzcoins joe:whistle:
No jello the eight on mine is really doubled i have several like it i found them in an UNC roll . I know it's die fatgie . i will post them when I get a chance . Jazzcoins Joe:hug:
CONGRATS Jeankay !! You not only have a very nice toner, BUT, it is also an inverted S, the upside down mintmark !!!! Thats a toughie !!
Jack... you gotta be kidding. I figured if it is in my album then it can't be that good. Nah, it can't be so. Really... ? Is there some place to check these out? This is not in any of my books. jeankay
Jean Kay, you gotta come up to PA and search through stuff for me, you must be good luck. Geez, lol. Nice find!! And beautiful 55 Jello, beautiful coin, and a nice example of the Poor Man's DD! :thumb: Phoenix
Heres a link Jean, I knew it was a toughie because I could not remember seeing one, but your 45-S is definatly inverted......a new discovery? http://www.lincolncentvarietycollector.com/overmintmark-dualmintmark-inveretedmintm
