1955 through 2003 proof sets. The 1955-64 supposedly have never been opened. Price is $1,100, which is a $180 premium over the greysheet. Is it worth the extra money to get the 10 unopened proof sets?
IMO - no. If you wish to obtain a run of mint sets, pick them out individually. You'll be much happier
Proof Sets I agree 100% with GDJMSP. Proof sets are my favorite to collect. Not every set is as good as the next and sometimes not even close. The 1955-1964 set that are sealed could potentially be worth a high premium if any cameos or deep cameos are included. Therefore I find it hard to believe that no one has opened these before now. Be careful! Beware of spots and hazing on the coins that would indicate poor or improper storage. Some scamers are printing their own "original" packaging envelopes so that it looks new and neat or well preserved. Again BE CAREFUL!. Paying 180 over Grey Sheet to me is not that bad if you are going to get a good grade or quality product. You could save money by taking your time and purchase good deals WITH a return policy. Keep the good stuff and return the JUNK. Much luck to you with obtaining your proof sets.
I don't think so....I mean...how do you know that the sets haven't been opened and resealed.... $180 isn't ripping you off but I would go witht GDJMSP's suggestion...buy them one by one...you WILL be happier...that is what I'm doing and its fun to be able to look at the coins and decided if that is what you want in your set or not....with the kind of deal your talking about...they are in your set if you like it or not. Agreed with other comments!! You will be much better off to pick them out by looking at them...alot of claims say "unopened" but with technology as it is today it is easy to duplicate the envelopes. Be wary of such claims.. Just my opinion..you asked! RickieB
