1954 S Cent... Any Idea???

    Not sure what's wrong with this one. Ive been trying to figure it out but can't. Help would be much appreciated!

    Die chip - the post on the die to make the opening in the 9 broke off

    When searching 1954-S don't forget the San Jose die break. They're much more scarce, IMO, than chips in the 9.

    I may have to try your tactics.
    It won't work with my main collecting type of coins, but for U.S coins it appears you find more your way than I do mine.

    Nice find. I found a few from 1957 back in my early 20's. I didn't know the term Die Break/Chip yet so I labeled the Cents as Filled 9. It was a common occurrence in Cents minted in the 50's and 60's.
    Here are my 3. I have many more but these are the most prominent. The B in LIBERTY on the first Cent also has a Die Chip

    ........and if you talk to other collectors 20 years or more older than Paddy, you might also hear the term "Plugged" used. I have one that is noted as a "Plugged 8" on the 2x2.
