    I believe I have a double D 1954 wheat penny. The doubling is above the D. I took the best photos I could. Any thoughts? Value. Common coin? 0820241818.jpg 0820241818.jpg 0820241819.jpg 0820241818.jpg 0820241819.jpg 0820241819b.jpg

Sometimes it's hard to tell on a worn coin.

Looks like an RPM. The mint marks were hand punched into the die back then so it appears doubled but it’s not. It’s an RPM or repunched mint mark.

Notice the closeness of the lettering L in Liberty and the "IN GOD WE TRUST" to the rim. Damaged die over time to give that effect. so Die Deterioration Damage is my thought. The mintmark is somewhat small , but I suspect it is also the DDD. Jim

I concur with a Die Deterioration issue. Not a repunched mint mark.

I say that it is DDD, not an RPM.
