1954 Canadian 1 cent Plated?

    I have a 1954 one cent that is plated looks like nickle too shinny for silver. it is also holed. I can see the copper in the hole. I cant find anythin on it in my books. Anyone ever seen this before, perhaps some kind of promotion or sales gimmick. let me know sorry no pictures.

    Yes What you have is a charm. During the 50's and 60's it was popular to plate canadian coins and add them to charm bracelets. I have seen many varieties plated gold or silver in colour, with either holes or bezels. There was a junk jewelery company in Toronto making bracelets in the 1950's completely out of plated pennies. Good news is that it is still worth a cent!
