Howdy Error collectors...many of you who know me on CT are familiar with the Golden Coin Hunt Contest that I filled in for DAK....well, years ago I bought this roll of 1953 S Dimes in original bank roll.

I passed several off as prizes to some very deserving people..(you know who you are) and here is a question I have for you all.

The entire roll has filled "S" and on some of the coins it looks like the field of the die was very worn or damaged. The impression it left on some coins was a very weak and fluttered looking strike.
I was just wondering how common this is on this coin as the roll is all Gem BU.

Should I in your opinion check these out with a Pro to see if they may warrant more attention?

If Mike Diamond or Doug reads this post, if I send you one will you look at it and let me know your opinion?

    Thanks in advance....

    Regards,

    RickieB

You have nothing to lose by checking further.
But, I doubt if there is any big value to them.

It sounds like a die chip Rickie, very common. Post a pic if you can, it would be a lot easier than sending the coin to somebody.

    Thanks guy's...
I did not think it was a too serious error but wanted to check with you all. I appreciate the info.

I'm no expert on mintmark variations by any means. At this point I don't know if you're talking about a weak mintmark or a solid mintmark.

It looks like a die chip.
