I have had this one for awhile. It was in an old 2x2 and I opened to see a great toned coin! I used my loupe and examined the MM to see a nice split on the serif on the bottom left of the MM. I checked Coneca and they only have a 1953D-RPM for an inverted MM. I don't thin kthis on eis that , butu it is clearly a RPM. I trie dto take the best pics, but what can you do? My pics don't blow up, but I a can see the RPM without aid of magnification. What do you guys think?
I can't tell for sure but the first thing that crosses my mind is to be 100% that whatever caused that scratch didn't nick the lower left of the MM since the direction of the scratch points right at that critical spot on the D. The scratch would not have to be a continuous line as whatever scratched the coin might have not been in continuous contact with the coin. I've seen RPMs that ended up being an extension of another issue. Thanks, Bill
That could be a tilted RPM with minor split serifs, but the pics are too small to be certain. Additionally, Bill is correct that it could have been caused by other forces and would have to be ruled out. CONECA probably wouldn't list it as it is too minor but other attributers would if it indeed an RPM.
Looks like an Rpm i could see the splits and the lower left side of the MM is Notched better pics of that area are needed to make sure. Bill Somers
That is what I thought. Not sure what to do with it, might just put it back in a new 2x2 and mark it as a rpm. Not sure if sending it would be worth my time. Jessie
