I have this 1952D with an odd looking possible die chip or whatever west of the mintmark. Any ideas as to what it really is? Two pictures with different lighting. Thanks

I'm thinking it is an old die crack (or some sort of gouge) that didn't get much worse over time and was buried under die flow lines somewhat masking their identity.

    Very common on 1950's Lincoln's.

Very common on 1950's Lincoln's. They ran the dies into the ground.
