it's not a scratch.. the picture is bad. There is actual more hair minted on his head. I will try to post a better picture and you can see it clearly is additional copper shaped like hair.
All of your pictures are just so small. Its hard to atribute with a picture that is as small as the coin.
So I take it this is unfamiliar to anyone? I will get a bigger picture soon and post it. I just wanted to see if anyone has seen anything like it for now.. I just joined here and have been collecting error pennies the last year and have alot I am curious about...
It could be a crack in the lamination or cracked skull. http://www.wscoin.com/Info/CollectingLincolnCents.htm
Thanks RockDude Thanks for the link to that web site dude. I have been home recovering from a disability and for the last year , once and sometimes twice a week I purchased ten dollars worth of pennies and sat home and searched them. I have hundreds of errors and I will post some interesting ones I have found.
I also have a 1941 penny that has the letter T embeded in the side of lincoln's cheek. at least it looks like the letter T.
If you have a coin like that it is called a dropped letter error, and can be worth a nice premium please post a pic of it to be sure it;s a T and a dropped letter. JC
1941 Possible dropped T Here is a picture.. sorry it isn't real clear.. I'll buy a better camera soon. The T is sticking out of his Jaw Line.
