1951S franklin half DDR, im not asking to verify as i have had this coin graded and authenticated to be an authentic XF DDR, just wondering what something like this is worth???
not sure on price, but which grading company did you use. check the cherrypickers guide or ebay for prices
The coin was graded by a trusted friend at rare coins of nh and im pretty confident in there ability. check there website rcnh.com. I have checked ebay none on there in this grade. Just wondering because if its worth anything substantial then i will send to PCGS. Its definitely a DDR i can see it with my eye loop 10x.
It doesn't look like it, but I can't accurately tell if it is unless the pictures are zoomed in more. Nice Franklin though!
Im not debating if it is real i have coa its the other picture in the post and i can see it with my own eyes. Just curious of value if any?
All that's been asked is can you upload a larger, clearer photo of your coin, preferably both sides. The image you did post, is not large enough or clear enough to see the doubling you are. If we can't see what you do, no one can give you an idea of value.
My camera for some reason can not get clear shots its a cannon 7.1 mega pixel. sorry its the best i can do.
From that one photo, I do not see doubling on the reverse anywhere. That photo of a page from a book, would that be describing the known DDR for the 1961 Proof Franklin by chance? NFN, but the 51-S Franklins are known to be weakly struck and have a lack of detail in the design.
Coin guy. This is my favorite series, and finding DDR's is actually one of my favorite things to do. Although it is very hard to see from the pictures, I blew it up and can make out some possible doubling on the U in "United." I would say based on this picuture you might have a 300-400 half. Very nice. Here are some recent auctions on 51-S DDR realized prices. Sure would like some more pictures, and possibly the obverse. To me it looks MS-64. I would say border 65, but there is a slight lack of detail in the eagle wings. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-S-FRAN...63?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item1e699a2cc3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-S-50c-...51?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item45ff5a772b http://www.ebay.com/itm/1951-S-PCGS...70?pt=Coins_US_Individual&hash=item2eba645706
I don't believe this was graded correctly. The strike looks MS. What I am worried about is the look on the reverse. The detail in the wings doesn't match up with the rest of the reverse. It could have been dipped. Maybe this is why he undergraded the half.
Are we looking at the same coin? He only posted a pic of the reverse, and small, blurry one at that, but not that blurry that you can see the exceptional wear on that side. I also see some kind of mark under the bell above the LF in HALF.
They do help, atleast help me anyway. The photo of the reverse is large enough for me to see there is no obvious doubling on that side over the motto or in UNITED. As far as grade goes, I'm quite sure this would not receive a MS grade as the wear is too great on both sides. My opinion, is VF, slight chance of XF, but VF none the less. Not much more than melt value in that grade. You might get melt or a little less for it from a B&M shop. That mark that's right above the LF in HALF beneath the bell, is that on the coin or the flip?
I thought it might be bet then again the blurry photo made it hard to tell. Just an FYI, I've never heard of rcnh.com; however, I do know what they are not, and that is a TPG or Third Party Grader like PCGS and NGC. Looking at their website they are a dealer, of many out there, and the label they made and placed in that flip, is their opinion and not an authentication. You may wish to take this to several other dealers, whom you know and trust, to give you their assessment of the reverse and whether it is a DDR or not. Not a wise thing to accept the opinion of only one entity. Opinions from more than one can be educational but more accurate as you will at least have a consensus on the matter. Good luck in your collecting.
not sure BU. The 2nd picture doesn't even look like the same coin. Hold your mouse over the first picture and let it naturally maximise to about 28%, you'll see what I'm talking about.
Better pics this morning as i learned some photo technique late last night. Does not look to be doubled at all. Unfortunate.
