I have this little beauty and am thinking of having it graded.since there are only slightly over 50,000 made and most have an ugly appearance, I think this one might be a good one to get slabbed. I am looking for an expert opinion on what kind of grade I could get. I know that without the coin in hand it would be hard for any of you to determine if it could get the cameo designation but I think it would be close . what do you guys think?
For some reason I didn't get the Rev. I will have to get back to you on that. It does have the rements of the wax paper on the bottom right on the lower bust but it does not get I the way of the beauty. Also it has a beautiful wood like toning which I can't seem to show in my life. I will have to take some different pics

It's virtually impossible to grade a proof from an image, but it looks very well preserved and would expect it to get a 66 or higher unless there are noticeable hairlines in the fields. I don't see the cameo designation happening though.

Prices on these are all over the map, indicating spotty demand and the need for a bit of luck when selling, to get it in front of people who happen to want an example at that moment. They seem inexpensive but difficult and pricier in Cameo/DCAM; PCGS has 1700 in their Population but only 218 in CAM (I expect that number to be inflated by crackouts looking for DCAM) and merely 23 in DCAM.

I don't see a chance of CAM/DCAM; the devices should not show the reflectivity they do in your images. From a strict financial standpoint, you'll probably need at least PR66 to justify the cost of slabbing. From what evidence is available here, it looks like you won't have any problem reaching that grade, my only worry being how the TPG would adjudicate the color (which, being a fan of Woodies, I rather like :) ). For the record, acetone should be able to make the wax paper residue go away in seconds without otherwise harming the coin.

I was told that too just scared to scratch it

    Liquid doesn't scratch coins. :)

That said, this is a Proof and a nice one, and the term "too much paranoia" therefore cannot apply to it. Me, I'd just grab it with a pair of chopsticks or wooden tongs (or even between two fingernails, but I'd prefer to fully immerse it) and swish it in acetone for a few moments (which would be enough). If you were to submit the coin through NGC or PCGS' conservation service, they could remove it easily prior to grading.

I would probably have one of the company's do it. I have what's called" nervous hands". So I will keep it like it is until I become a member of NGC. I used to have all my coins graded by a coin company I dealt with but they stopped sending coins in, I have a lot of coins I'd like to get graded

. As far as the liquid not scratching it your right but the q tip I would use probably would

Wouldn't need a Q-tip - the immersion and a little movement would do - but erring on the side of caution does no harm whatsoever in this case. :)

As a Jefferson collector I don't see a lot of value here on this coin. Don't get me wrong it's a nice specimen but hardly worth the money to slab . I personally would dip it and put it in an airtight. From the images posted I see a 50 to 65 $ coin.
