I have been investing in pre 1965 US proof NGC coins
my question is how do you "you" rate PF coins, PF69 vs PF68CAM ,
or 69 CAM vs 68UCAM or PF67UCAM vs 68CAM etc .I understand how many have been graded and to look at each coin in hand .

    I been working 1950-70 Proofs

Me too! have completed 1956-1964-PR-68 Cameo. but once you get below 1956 they get to 1955-1950 $500.00-$3000.00 plus so I been trying to hold off.
but did pick 65-70 in PR-67-68 Deep Cameo and my 1966 SMS came back a PR-66 Star

Yea 68CAMs are great ,so would you say that would rather have a PF68CAM vs PF69 ?
    For me I would .

Pretty much any Proof coin minted prior to 1973 is going to be a lot more scarce in Cameo than those without the Cameo. And any with Deep/Ultra Cameo are even more scarce.

Personally I would always rather have examples with the Cameo or Deep Cameo designation than those without it. I would go so far as to say that I would prefer a 67 CAM over a PF69.

For really scarce pieces, go for any cameo SMS's!

    Thanks for the tips , This weekend I picked up a 1950 PF67 CAM and a 1964 PH69 pointed 9 Dime not a cameo but I wanted a pointed 9
and a PF69 worked for me.
I still need a 1951 Cam and a 1952 Cam for the complete PF Rossevelt Cameo set .Those last 2 may take awhile they are going to cost
quite a bit for a PF67 CAM or higher

I was reading the auction results and Pcgs MS-68FB+ Roosevelt Dime just sold for $5100.00+ commission fee's
maybe Roosevelt Dime are getting hot?so it maybe time to get your Proof before the price's get to high.

    I agree with Frank!

Its a win win , I have always been a coin colector. I think pre 1965 Rossevelts are a good buy in BU rolls, Graded key dates, and Graded high grade Proofs (NGC,PCGS)
These are the ones I like to colect and they have gone up lately but you can still find some good deals on them .
A junk roll can go for $75 ish and a BU (MS63-65) ish roll is about the same price ,I was buying the BU+ rolls .
I got most of my rolls at $25-$40 up to $150 for eariler key date rolls . I have moved on to graded Rossevlts lately.
So I would call it an investment ,and a Dollar cost avarage at one too and my investment has gone up at least %100. I will be using buy and hold for 10-15 years or sad to say they may end up in a estate sale ,you cant tlke it with you!

although the numbers on these coins is rather small in comparison to modern proof sets, the coins are relatively common. The cameo and deep cameo (ultra cam) coins are obviously a much smaller number and more attractive IMHO. As an investment, I would go with what I thought was most desirable without regard to rarity.
