hi, i bought a 1949 franklin half dollar, and i'm thinking it has been cleaned, bu i bought it for face value, so if it is, i lost nothing on it, but if it isn't, yay for me. sorry about the bad pics, i am at my work, and brought my laptop so i could show you some coins i find in the storage units.
It's a melt value coin, $13-14 with current spot prices. Not bad for buying it for only .50, I'll take that any day!
yeah, i work for my friends dad on weekends, but we have no school, so i work for him today. he works at a storage place, so anytime they have a storage unit that wasn't paid for, he calls me in, i hold on to anything i like. and this is one we are going through is full, and i mean full of coins. it's a 5x10 unit too!
That's the type of thing I enjoy hearing about. That's a pretty nice find albeit nothing earth shattering...definitely better than a kick in the old shin.
What market quote are you looking at? The price for silver closed at $30.95 and the highest it was on the 19th was $31.42. That puts the melt in the $11.20 - $11.36 range, and a buy price from a B&M would be between $8.75-$10 range.
we held on to EVERYTHING in the unit, i have 4 12" by 12" by 12" boxes of coins that haven't been looked through... hope to find some good finds in them!
yes, we all love pictures, don't we? i'll try and get some posted soon! but first, which box to start with? 1,2,3 or 4?
