Germany- Federal Republic, KM#104, 1949-G, Copper-nickel mintage-25,924,000 grade/value VF-$0.75 XF-$5.00 UNC.-$55.00 I am guessing your mint mark is a G ? Krause values may differ from real life market. this coin is very common.
This 50 Pfennig coin was issued after the currency reform in the Western occupation zones, but before the Federal Republic of Germany was founded. Hence the inscription "Bank deutscher Länder" (the predecessor of the Bundesbank) which is used instead of a country name. And yes, that piece is very common. The only rarity when it comes to the 50 Pfennig BdL coin is the piece that Karlsruhe (G) erroneously minted in 1950. Can fetch four digit prices, but be aware of manipulations ... Christian
Thanks for all the background info on the coin; very interesting about the 1950 error. Now I'll have to go through all my world coins, especially the German coins.
Beware that there are lots of AU and slider examples of this coin so the XF price might be overstated. No question Unc specimens are quite scarce.
