Found this in a collection of wheats i purchased the other day. The coin has definitely worked hard but doesn’t seem to be damaged. At first glance i thought it was rim damage but on further inspection came to the conclusion that this is not the case. There is no indention on the edge to cause any displacement of metal. I’m leaning towards it being a cud. Went to cuds on coins site to compare and couldn’t find any that were somewhat similar to this. So now there is only one thing left to do and that’s to post it on the trusted CT site. Looking forward to the replies and have a happy Sunday!
Send them photos and then you will have the answer if will be attribute. JC will answer you very fast.
They could be a small rim cud, but also make sure that the third side isn't damaged, there is quite a bit of other rim issues on the coin.
The area in question looks newer like it took a hit. Wouldn't it be the same color as the rest of the coin? Correct me if I'm wrong.
. Not necessarily if this is the highest point on the obverse of the coin, wouldn’t it receive the most wear and reduce tone? I’m not an expert by no means? Just trying to think out side of the box. Like i said in the previous post there doesn’t seem to be any kind of contact marks on 3rd side . I’ll take a photo of the edge and post it soon.
I see what you're saying. So, yeah, looks like a cud. Congrats on a nice find. I'm still learning and by no means an expert. Lol
I do suspect that your coin has been removed from a Encased Cent Good Luck Holder. Due to flatness of obverse edge and the edge itself.
