1948 Franklin Half

    Looks to me that there are scratch marks from cleaning.

    yea, looks cleaned to me. i would look elsewhere...

    It looks cleaned to the point of being badly damaged, but is in a 2x2 so nothing is certain. Huge risk in buying this one.

    Yes I would say that coin is not for you ,hang in there you will get a good one just takes time.

    Look closely at the reverse. Besides being cleaned, I don't even think it comes close to MS. Some might say its a weak strike but I think its well worn. Also, look at the hair behind the ear on the obverse. I'm thinking more like XF to AU.

    I wouldn't disagree---in fact I would say that the 1948 Franklin might have the best strike in the whole set...
    The dies were new and the detail was sharp---now if it was a later date then maybe but even then about the one place that the weakness showed the most was the bell....

    I've gotten a good many coins from him and aways have gotten what I needed.
