Hi all, Came across this 1947S Nickel in a roll. The mint mark looks like there is another S (to the left), but it could just be MD. Any thoughts? Also, if you look at the last photo, in between the wall and mm, would this be considered die deterioration? Thanks.
Hey JC, Which photo are you referring to? I've searched the net for other 1947's but can't find anything to compare this to that looks similar to the photo's I posted (the wall or mm for the same year).
I am new to this hobby, so excuse me for saying this; but what are you referring to as being hit? I ask this because I have absolutely no idea where you are referring to as post mint damage.
What I meant was that, "I see something in the photos provided" - as to whether it is MD, DDD, a die gouge or something else like an RPM or PMD, I don't know as I cannot tell as the photos are too small. I would lean toward MD.
Gotchya, thanks JC. I'll keep a hold of this until the camera I ordered comes in (hopefully closer and clearer photo's without light issues) so I can post better pics.
I took the liberty of blowing up and enhanching picture #2. It does appear that there is another S underneath slightly tilted to the left.
Thanks, Poppa, for the blow up. #1: Looks like an RPM East. #2: Nothing else there, nothing special at any rate.
Thanks Poppa, and thanks TreasureHunt for the info. I'm just glad that its not md, I think I'm finally getting the hang of this.
