Went to my main dealer's this afternoon and saw this 47-S in his case. He was asking $16, but let me have it for $12. Looks MS-65 to me.
so neat i've been trying to get a quarter below 1964 but never get to have one but i will end up buying one soon if i don't get it in my pocket change haha...nice quarter though looks great condition!
Nice. I'm working on the Washington set right now. I have everything from '64 through '08 (not too worried about finding the more recent stuff), and have about half of the ones between '32 and '63.
Thats a scan of the coin. In hand the obverse and reverse are free of blemishes and bag marks, original luster is exceptional, details in relief are strong and quite sharp.
Just the scans. I'll see if I can get some pics. I also compared it to the PCGS photogradeonline, and it's not close to 67. Looks identical to the 65.
I was just pointing out that if your description were totaly accurate you'd have yourself a better than 65 coin. What are its flaws?
Hardly any at all. No signs of wear, very minute scratch on the eagles right wing edge, 1 small scrape above Washington's head. That's it. The head and neck are clean, no marks or wear, the eagle is clean with no wear, and the luster is exceptional. I usually find specimans of this year and mm lacking luster, and bag marks and wear on it. This looks like it may have been in someones 47 mint set.
The pick is a lot better than the scan. Nice luster... clean coin. The only thing that I'm questioning is what looks to be a scratch in the center of the obverse. There's also some light which blocks out some of the portrait and bust where there are often contacts. The eagle looks very nice.
