Recently picked up this Washington for a great price considering the toning on the reverse. @Morgandude11 decided to post mine after seeing yours ;)

That's one I'd like to see mounted rev facing front!

Absolutely beautiful. Is it definitely under graded. PCGS often under graded these coins, as they are conservative with some toned coins.

A nice coin to be sure, but a bit surprised at the 65 with hits on both sides...the reverse with two rather significant ones (if in less-focal places) plus not a real clear breast feathers strike. Maybe the toning won them over.

My take is that luster pretty much trumps most everything on washies at pcgs and this coin looks like a luster grenade. Also, obv over rev in grading and 1 mark on the cheek does not rule out MS65. And I will allow that seductive eye appeal doesn't hurt either.

Not that it matters, and I agree with you generally (except for the Obverse Rating in this Series), I count 9. I suspect that 6 of them were not trumped by the toning, using a 5X at the time of Grading. I don't grade from photos, so the Grade is not that important to me, and photos sometimes don't tell the story the human eye does (and vice versa).

So ,for 3 obvious hits, all things being equal, then numerically a 65 would be about right.

Just my opinion, so the opposite will be correct. I follow the Dewey Method, when sharing my opinion.

Beautiful coin. Should be an easy go at a gold bean.

Nah. Neither of those hits preclude gem status. The rest of the surfaces are clean. Look at the PCGS Photograde. I think it has a shot at 66. Were it in an NGC holder, it would be 66*.
