Looking for value on 1947 D RPMM; coin in very good condition. Grading? Thanks. It has doubling on reverse lettering as well but most are telling me its machine doubling. I just don't have enough knowledge to know what to value this coin. FYI the scratches are on the holder, not the coin. Thanks all!
It looks like the remnants of a chemical spill on the obverse. EF to AU technical grade. A bigger picture of the reverse might help nailing that down better. No errors on this coin. Basically, melt value. Just my honest opinion, based on what I'm seeing.
Thanks Eddiespin for the grading help. And Chris too. I didn't think die deterioration would effect the MM on a 1947; I thought they were still being hand punched on this coin. Learned something new today.
@KC Goatroper, I fell for this kind of doubling, too, years ago. It's somewhat dramatic, you have to admit. Just stick with it, until you've had enough, and you'll get the hang of it. How long does that take? The answer is, however long it takes.
