Has the right shape for WRPM-002 Again, you don't include any of the noted PUPs/die markers and this one has several on obverse and reverse. Your device captures the shape but not enough detail to verify it. If you are able to see this with something you have to view it in hand, take a picture through whatever that may be and do it from different angles/lighting until you can see it with your pictures.
So, to clarify, this can't be an RPM in and of itself without all the other attributes listed in Wexler for that WRPM-020?
If that D looks like the one shown, I suppose it could be a later die stage and that dot behind his head been reduced by polishing etc. Your coin is worn and your images don't make the reach to show it to be the same, other than it's outline shape is quite close. ARE YOU, looking at the coin in hand with something different than you're using to take your pictures?
Of course it can, and even if only because previously unknown varieties are still being discovered. The value and point behind PUPs and markers is to attribute/identify as a known variety. That said, and I haven't compared your photos to known RPMs, the lower serif appears somewhat promising. However, on coins that have been around the block a few times, it can be tough to say for sure, and at best it would be a rather minor variety.
WRPM-002, whose serif splits upper and lower, lines up very closely with what would be reasonable to see with his coin having wear. MM placement is also the same. The splitting at the top is faint and the pictures just do not make the case other than showing the silhouette, orientation and placement. WRPM-002 is a Best of Variety so again, it looks very likely to be worth his effort to produce pix of the other die markers and better pix of the MM at that, unless he can certainly compare the online attribution pix (which are much higher quality with much more information) to his coin in hand and has no further need for online verification.
Thanks for the comments and edification, I will pay closer attention to the PUPs in the future, it is difficult to gauge a worn coin when comparing it to an AU or MS, and few come out of bank boxes in the upper grades. And yes, the pics I post are what I am looking at; sometimes the pics grab more detail, sometimes less. I will look closer at the coin. Enjoy the 4th.
Good, you know I'm not trying to hurt your feeling. Get a good loupe if nothing else. I forgot what you are using or have and not sure you are strictly using just your phone. If so, try installing a magnifier app, one that demands very few permissions, of course.
