So I was looking through some Canadian Half dollars yesterday and I came across a 1947 Maple Leaf and what appears to be a curved 7. So here's my question, I'm going to send it to PCGS to be graded. Will the curved 7 be listed as the variety or would it be a Maple Leaf variety? If its Maple Leaf then would the curved 7 be an error? Thanks for the help.
It will show up as both for PCGS, as there is also a straight seven variety. The approx. amount made of each for the ML variety is about 50/50. ICCS also designates both types on their slabs/mylar flippy do da.
Flippy do da? Hahaha I like that. So when I send it off to PCGS I should put Maple Leaf Curved 7 in the variety box?
Yes, correct-o-mundo. They'll take care of that for you as the ML straight and curved 7 has been a recognized variety for years.
