1947 c Newfoundland 5 Cent silver Picked this beauty up on ebay for 9 bucks.. mintage of ojnly 38,400 .... not too shabby! (Title should read Newfoundland not Canadian... my error in haste)
Ahem... that is NOT a Canadian 5 cent piece. At least not at the time it was made. <--- *Points to his Location.* All of our colonial coins have a very low mintage. If you want to see something really cool, checkout the Newfoundland $2.00 gold coin!

And.... then .... of course this is what it looked like after a quick dip in acetone and a roll dry with a qtip... the film and most of the gunk came off revealing it's luster!
Well I'd like to keep it for now. I have always loved Canadian coins, and have collected then religiously, but now I am moving into Newfies and the other Provinces. I think I may end up sending it off to ANACS and seeing what grade it comes back with...
