1946 Walking Liberty Cracked Planchet?

    WHat do you guys think? IS this a cracked planchet? THere is a crack that goes right thru the F in HAlf. On the obverse there looks to be a cud above libert'ys head.

    I agree with Speedy, it looks like someone cut it with a wire cutter.

    OR someone used it for a screwdriver or to pry something open.

    IT cant be any of those ideas. THe crack goes straight thru from the F in Half thru the reeded edge to the top of liberty's head.

    THe crack doesnt go thru the height of the coin its just a thin crack

    It appears to me that the coin has been removed from a jewelry mount. The crack may or may not be the result of this removal. But I would guess that the odds are more in favor that it is a result of it.

    As best as I can tell from the photo, it looks like an authentic cracked planchet error to me.

    I say it is most definitely a cracked planchet. I think what you called a cud on the obverse up there near the head is post mint damage though.

    THanks thats what I suspected. How much value does this add to a coin like this. BTW I bought this for 5$
