I read somewhere maybe wrongly that the 1946-S had an erroneous MM style type error. I came across some recently and the MM look different. Question are the styles different, and if so is this an error? Or am I seeing things LOL

Two at the top are serif and the bottom is a sans serif mintmark. There is also a ball serif mintmark. This is the only pic I have saved at the moment, it's my rpm#25 , the only rpm for the ball serif style.

There are two big ones for 46-S , a inverted Balls serif style and a S/D with the S being a serif style

Pretty cool. Are there any other years like this?

The years that I know in the Lincoln cent series that have multiple styles of S mintmarks are
    1928
    1941
    1944
    1945
    1946
    1947
    1952 , maybe this year
    1979
    1981
Here is a page that shows the styles of S mintmarks through the years.

Jason tried to show lightly and deeply punched examples of each style but a deeply punched example of the Sans Serif from 46 is missing so I will post a pick of one I have

Since this post was originally about 1946 here is an example of the third MM style from this year, a Serif style. This is from a later die state coin, a RPM-022. This is one of the rpm's that gets stronger as the die ages.
