1946 S Error But What Kind???

    Just found this one as well. It is a 1946 S. I would guess maybe a little bit broad struck. Theer is a double edge around the sides. Just wondering what kind of error this might be.

    At first blush it looks like a partial collar strike.

    Also known as a railroad rim.

    It was probably in a 'lucky coin holder'
    It appears slightly flattened when removed.

    The name used for this type of error is a flanged partial collar strike, nicknamed "railroad rim" as Doug said. What happens is part of the metal spreads out over the coller. One way to distinguish this type of error is by the lettering on the rim (above Lincons head). Anyway that's what I think it is.
