1946-S cent IMM?

    Is this a typical "ball serif" or the infamous IMM?

    Sorry to say, I do not believe your coin is the IMM. For this variety, the ball serif must be present as the southern-most portion of the mintmark... It's obvious (if you're at all familiar with serif styles) that the ball serif is present as the northern-most portion of the mintmark on your example. Please refer to the photos I have provided, courtesy of "The Lincoln Cent Resource". :)

    Is anyone else bothered that the "inverted" example does not look like a ball serif mint mark?
