While looking through some wheat pennies I got from a friend i noticed that the 1946-d pennies seem to be weakly hit on the 46 on a few of them. Is this and error or are the pennies just worn in that area?

I don't think it is an error. There are a few theories about the weakness in the date for 1946... I think the prevailing one is that the date was weakly engraved that year.
    Keep up the hunt!

Why do some have a full date then?
