While looking through some wheat pennies I got from a friend i noticed that the 1946-d pennies seem to be weakly hit on the 46 on a few of them. Is this and error or are the pennies just worn in that area?
I don't think it is an error. There are a few theories about the weakness in the date for 1946... I think the prevailing one is that the date was weakly engraved that year. Keep up the hunt!
1946 Was a year the all mints were getting back workers from World War 2 That one reason a MS- 66 - 68 are semi rare. That what J.Q Bower as note in all his books . But I am not a expert I just remember what I read.
