Very beat up but has doubling on reverse ( E Pluribus Unum) leaning towards MD and possibly die crack on reverse from bottom of c in America NE through bottom of T in states . Don't know much about die cracks! Probably just a scratch ! Thanks
Flat and shelf-like on the obverse. MD. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/FAQ/machinedoubling.html Not seeing any crack on the reverse.
Thanks it's as I suspected but I feel I need expert opinions on this stuff. The crack to me is probably a scratch too more experienced people ! Thanks again!
A die crack will be raised from the surface of the coin. A scratch will be dug into the coin. Yours are scratches.
Man that's one beat up coin . Check to see if the left wheat lines, grains, and stem have doubling . Here's the link to what I'm talking about . http://varietyvista.com/01a LC Doubled Dies Vol 1/1946DDDR004.htm
Before even opening this thread I knew exactly what would be found inside. How pitiful is that? OP, Please be careful about allowing yourself to be sent on any wild goose chases. This has been happening far too often lately and very rarely does it work out to anyone's benefit. Your impression of the coin is correct imo.
OP I posted the site to check your coin against . Before you ever take a image of a variety coin . Match your images to the sites images . Then they'll be no mistakes on what you have . Now, go to the site I posted and match your new images to theirs . Then we can help much much more .
I don't bicker on my threads . why ? Because I know how to match images to the variety sites images . Sorry I tried to help . Good luck variety hunting .
Thanks for the help Rick, that was my attempt at trying too be funny but I guess the smiley face didn't show up at the end of my sentence up there∆
