The darker spot over monticello bothers me, personally.

Might be lighting, I don't know. At least it has 14 day return.

i dont like it ... but the question is ... do you like it?

I think that price is outrageous. I can find these raw in MS63 or higher for a fraction of that price.

Uh, so can I! Thanks for the help.

I'm not sure if I like it, either. Maybe it looks better in hand.

So, does this mean you're contemplating buying the slab then? If you can find these near or at this grade raw as well, then why bother wasting a grand for this one? ;)

I don't like it either... not sure why this got a star.

Unless you have an unlimited bank account, or if you are playing the NGC registry game, I wouldn't buy this nickel. I probably wouldn't even pay 1/4 what they are asking.

I thought about possibly buying this coin. I asked for help. I got some, and am thankful for it.
I have my own reasons for the way I collect. It's my collection, so I can do with it as I please.
My membership here on CT has offered me not only some fun, but a very good education.
Am I wrong for doing it my way instead of your way? Are you the ultimate authority on how to collect?
In my opinion, if you are here to preach, you are in the wrong place. If you are here to help, it will be appreciated.

To all of the others that have offered their help with my question, thank you!
I've decided to pass on this coin.

I never implied to do it my way. What you are implying is that my opinion doesn't matter or count. Geez, don't take posts so personally. I didn't say don't buy it, I'm just stating that I think it's a ripoff! That's all man, chill out.

Oh well, to each their own.

And if you didn't notice, I think my first post was very informative, especially to others who read that there are coins out there at a fraction of the price, don't go spending your life savings on one nickel that can be found for way less elsewhere. My second choice was directly questioning your reply to mine. I was confused on why someone would say they can also find a coin for a fraction of the price ungraded but still need to ask help in buying a slabbed coin for an outrageous price. Questions do not imply I'm preaching!

I mean, you did emphasize opinions on the price in your original post:

Think it would not cross to pcgs at a 67. It is really overpriced IMO and I don't like the spot on the reverse above Monticello, either.

That dark spot on the reverse is a deal killer.

As a Jefferson collector, here are my thoughts.

The grade, the toning, in addition with the star, make this an interesting nickel. The price does seem a little high. I do not know the actually population reports for these though. If you are a registry guy, this obviously could validate the cost.

I do like the coin, albeit the spot is a little distracting. I;m not in love with it.

There are other NGC MS67* war nickels with much better eye appeal, for a much better price. Not sure if you chose this year/mm for a reason.

Here is a beauty for $200 as an example:

    Either way, go Jefferson!

Edit: I'll pimp Lehighs nickels while I'm at it, he has some beauties for sale:

Maybe I did jump too fast. Sorry. Your statement about the price is appreciated, but was "
I can find these raw in MS63 or higher for a fraction of that price." really necessary? That's what upset me. Again, sorry for jumping on you like that.

Thanks, gbroke, for those links. I do like that nickel. I was unaware of Lehigh and will definitely look at that site.

Here's one that sold in the past few days, same grade (no *), same TPG. It brought $126.

Now is that *, and that little dab of color (which is why it got the star IMO), worth $875 more ? It sure wouldn't be to me.

Based on what I have learned here today, I've decided to pass on that one. Thanks everyone.
