1945 wheat penny with no edge

    Hey, so i was just wandering...i found a penny from 1945 and when placed on another penny, its noticibly smaller. its got no edge whatsoever and the "T" "R" "E" and "W" in In God We Trust are somewhat cut off. also in Liberty, the "L" is almost missing. no doubling is present tho..and sorry i dont have a pic..my phones camera is broken and i dont have a digital one any more. if anyone has some insight, id be glad to hear it.

    It sounds like it was just grounded or sanded down. Post mint damage, most will probably think of it like this until we see a picture. Hope this helps.

    Sounds like PMD(Post Mint Damage) meaning someone ground it off and buffed out the grinding marks to try and make it look like an error.

    Pics would be great if you can.

    The US struck all manner of foreign coins for allies and friends during World War II. It's possible your coin is struck on a planchet meant for one of them.

    I also have a war-era cent that has no rim but doesn't appear to have been altered post-minting.
