    Hello,

I found a 1945 Lincoln Cent and it is very odd. The R in Liberty looks like a backwards R. Also, the 5 in the date looks to be punched over another number maybe. There are some other strange things about it but those two stand out the most. What could cause this? Thanks.

Date looks like die deterioration doubling and damage and the R is just post mint damage

Yes Mr. Wiles said it was prob from a counting machine but still looks odd to me.

The wave like surface off your coin prompts me to say that it was cleaned with a hi-speed electric wire wheel brush. Full coin photo may help verify its condition.
