No doubled die here , just a beat up coin with the letters flattened down from being in use for many years.
It is beat up, but it is a class 6 DDO. It isn't 001. The placement of the MM is wrong. It would be hard to match up. I'm sure the markers are destroyed. The only way would be doing overlays for MM placement.
If I had to guess, I would say 002. I don't have an overlay program on my iPhone. It's just based on side by sides. Sorry about the condition though.
I just found either a 1940 or 1941 DDO (ill confirm when I get home) that has the same doubling on the 9. And the fact that there is doubling on the lower left hand side of LIBERTY, confirms it too. No way flattening from circulation could have done that.
