I came across this neat penny about two months ago. Looked nice and shiny like a newer one, but flipping it over I saw that it was a wheat penny. Cool! I always save these ones.

Getting in better light I could see a depression on the reverse side above the "ONE". Looks like it's mint damage. Well circulated so not worth much at all, but unique for the depression.

Hmmm, definitely happened at the Mint, don't know exactly what caused it. Cool find.

Thanks. Yeah, it's pretty cool since it happened at the mint. This may just be my first and only authentic mint damaged coin, so far. 1944 was when they started making pennies out of copper again, since they were making them out of steel the year before (1943). Wonder if this damage is caused by something related to changing back to copper again.

Maybe it's the "finger" that feeds the planchet? I really don't know. I've never seen that error before.
What about the raised line on the outside of Abe's back and the raised line above the middle of his hair?
    Anyone think those are anything?
