1944 penny steel??

    hi everyone,
    I found this penny in my parents safe? does anyone know anything about. I did a magnet test and it sticks, like in the pictures.... thanks for your help.....

    You will find all the info you need to get started in this thread.

    However, yours appears to be plated. The green you see on it is most often connected with copper. Iron mostly corrodes brown or black.

    It looks like some sort of casing on the reverse. Look at the double rims look on obverse as well as the tag sticking out. Looks like a jewelry piece made by encasing one side to allow for attaching to another piece.

    It is the metal ring added to it that sticks to a magnet.
